Lunar New Year

 

2025 is the year of the Snake, so off we went to Chinatown to get some home decors, lucky candies and stuff to welcome the Year of the Snake. Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái! Kung Hei Fat Choi! Wishing y'all good health and good fortune!

What fruit trees to grow in the garden? If I could only grow one tree, I would pick a lemon tree. Growing citrus trees in the backyard garden, especially a lemon tree,  can save a lot of money since they are expensive to buy from the grocery stores, but very prolific when grown in a home garden. Filipino New Year's Eve Dinner

Our New Year's Eve dinner or media noche to welcome 2025 -- 13 dishes and 13 round fruits! The star is.. of course, the ham, garnished with sliced pineapple and maraschino cherries. Other dishes were pancit bihon for long life, rice with black eyed peas, ham and collard greens for good luck, Filipino-style macaroni salad, broiled pompano, shrimp in garlic butter sauce,  broiled fish, etc.
