Migrating Painted Lady Butterflies in Los Angeles

A magical phenomenon is currently happening in Southern California as millions of painted lady butterflies flutter in the sky as they migrate across the state heading north from the desserts of Mexico to the Pacific Northwest.

Mid-Summer Sunflower

I love sunflowers - they are bright, cheerful and warm as the mid-summer sun.

This one is blooming in our garden.

Bougainvilla

... in the front yard looks lovely this time of year.

Pink Icebergs

The icebergs are in full bloom! Pretty, aren’t they? Our gardener planted them in December – three pink and twelve white icebergs.

Butterfly Bush

We have three of them in the backyard -- two magenta and one purple.  And we have two resident butterflies too.

"Double Delight" Tea Rose

A very fragrant rose with creamy white petals edged with dark pink... its rich scent perfumes our yard.

Orchid Rockrose

There's one in our front yard, by the pedestrian walkway. It was plated between our property and our neighbor's.  I water it once in a while,  I saw our neighbor watering it too.

Peach Blossoms

... in our backyard.  It's almost Springtime!

Camellia

Heavy rain is in the forecast throughout the week. So while the sky is clear, I took a 2-mile walk during lunch break.
