A 5th century church, the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore or Basilica of Saint Mary Major, is one of the four major papal basilicas and the largest Marian church in Rome, Italy. Under the high altar of the basilica is a crystal reliquary said to contain wood from the Holy Crib of the nativity of Jesus Christ. Pope Francis chose this basilica as his final resting place.
